Itineraries

Day 1

Arrival

Arrival to Addis Ababa. Meeting with company’s representative at the airport. Take a short transfer to the Jupiter Hotel located 15 minutes drive from the airport. Depending on the arrival time, there may be an option of a short city tour. Relax after take some rest before dinner in the city.

Day 2

ADDIS ABABA / LALIBELA

Rise early and take the morning flight to Lalibela in the north of Ethiopia. Lalibela is famous for it’s incredible monolithic rock-cut churches and is one of Ethiopia’s holiest cities. On route from Lalibela airport to the hotel, stop of to visit Nakute Leab Church. After check in and some lunch, take a hike to see the Asheton Maryam Monastery.

Day 3

LALIBELA

On our second day in Lalibela, take a walking tour around the town to visit all the rock-hewn churches. In the morning, visit 6 churches; then take a break for lunch. In the afternoon, continue visiting the remaining churches.

Day 4

LALIBELA

On our final day in Lalibela, visit Yemrehanna Kristos Church. The church is located a bit out of town so we will drive for around one hour to get there. After lunch, free time to relax or explore the town some more.

Day 5

LALIBELA / GONDAR

Today, drive from Lalibela to Gondar. The trip takes around 7 hours so just relax and enjoy the different scenery that we’ll pass through en route.

Day 6

GONDAR / BAHIR DAR

Today will be a full days sightseeing in Gondar followed by a transfer to Bahir Dar. The highlights will be a trip to the castles of Gondar, also known as Fasil Ghebbi, followed by a visit to Fasilides’ Bath and Debre Berhan Selassie Church. In the afternoon, drive 3 hours south to the lakeside town of Bahir Dar.

Day 7

BAHIR DAR

Today will be a full days sightseeing in Bahir Dar. In the morning, take a boat trip on Lake Tana (Ethiopia’s largest lake and also the source of the Blue Nile river) to visit the monastery of Ura Kidane Mihiret. After lunch, visit the Blue Nile Falls on the outskirts of the town.

Day 8

BAHIR DAR / ADDIS ABABA

After breakfast, transfer to the airport to take the morning flight back to Addis Ababa. Once we arrive back in Addis Ababa, the program will finish.
